Planning 2019

I have found so many great quilting people and projects to inspire me. A couple of my favorites are: (1) Quilting Gail and (2) Nanette at Reading everyone’s plans for the upcoming year has inspired me. It is exciting to see so many talented people sharing their skills.

January plans – I am in the middle of moving this week and will be working next week to organize my new sewing room — finally everything all in one place (providing I can fit it all into one room!) The remainder of January will largely be spent sorting, organizing and inventorying supplies and yardage.

February – I have been a long-time admirer of Bonnie Hunter and her scrap user system and am planning to make at least one scrappy quilt per month during the year from the blocks I have trimmed and saved to my stash. Link to Scrap User System: My plan is to donate the scrappy quilts to the Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project.

The Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project is well underway, collecting new and nearly new bed size quilts for the victims of Hurricane Florence and Michael on the North Carolina coast. Just to define the scope of our efforts, the latest reports are that over 4500 homes have been totally destroyed and more than 700,000 homes have sustained damage mainly by flooding. So, as you might guess, we need a lot of quilts.

UFO List – I have several quilts that reside in UFO land. Two of them are denim quilts for my niece and nephew. Devin’s quilt will have Seahawks fleece backing. Laci’s quilt is made with pink and purple denim pieces with a purple brushed denim backing. Third UFO is a crazy quilt my grandma started many years ago. I have embellished the blocks with machine embroidery and am still deciding on how large to make it.

I am linking up with Elm Street Quilts – My January goal is to complete Laci’s denim quilt to deliver for her February birthday.

I am looking for a monthly block exchange to join and am looking for recommendations. Please tell me about your favorite!

Happy Tuesday!
